One day in January 1989, Pastor Don Piper (played by Hayden Christensen) was involved in a serious car accident on his way home, and upon the arrival of emergency personnel, he was declared dead. Miraculously, an hour and a half later, he woke up and claimed to have seen a glimpse of heaven during his time of unconsciousness. With the fervent prayers of friends and the careful nurturing of his wife Eva (played by Kate Bosworth), Don eventually recovered and started a new life. This film is adapted from the best-selling book of the same name by the New York Times in 2004, authored by Don Piper based on his personal experience.
