Odette (played by Uliana Lopatkina) is a beautiful princess who, by an unfortunate accident, is transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Rothbart. Prince Siegfried sees the swan Odette during his coming-of-age ceremony and follows her to the lakeside, where Odette silently confesses her sorrow to the prince in her swan form. The prince falls deeply in love with Odette and decides to use the power of his true love to return her to human form. At Siegfried's birthday banquet, Rothbart arrives with his daughter Odile to celebrate. Odile looks exactly like Odette, and the bewitched Siegfried becomes betrothed to Odile. Soon, the prince realizes he has fallen into the demon's trap and seeks Odette's forgiveness.
