Samurai Sasahara Isaburo (played by Masakazu Tamura) of the Aizu Matsudaira clan enters his wife’s family as a son-in-law and shares a respectful relationship with his wife (played by Meiko Kaji). His son Goro (played by Naoto Ogata) is straightforward and filial. One day, Takahashi, a servant of the Aizu clan (played by Yukiya Kitamura), brings shocking news: the domain lord (played by Ren Ohsugi) has expelled his favored concubine, Aichi (played by Yuki Nakama), due to a dispute and has commanded her to marry into the Sasahara family. Caught in a dilemma, Isaburo reluctantly complies, but fortunately, the gentle and beautiful Aichi quickly adapts to life with the Sasahara family and gets along well with her husband and in-laws.
