Emily, a spirited and passionate 16-year-old girl, feels increasingly frustrated as she grows up. Her mother, Samantha (Kristin Chenoweth), is an efficient, career-focused woman, while her father, Duncan (Matthew Modine), is a happy artist who has no time to guide their daughter. No matter what Emily does, her parents are always contradictory and unsupportive, which leads her to become extremely upset and decide to kidnap her parents to teach them a lesson.
