Seventeen-year-old Wande (played by Yoo Ah-in) should be spending his carefree youth. However, in reality, Wande's life is filled with darkness and no light. His father is a short disabled man, his mother is a Filipino worker he met only at seventeen, and he has to rely on welfare to survive. In this situation, Wande has no friends, no love, and has to solve everything with his own fists. The only person around him who doesn’t play by the rules is his homeroom teacher and neighbor, Dong-soo (played by Kim Yoon-seok). At first, Wande finds Dong-soo's incessant talking annoying and sees him as his number one enemy. But as events unfold, he gradually feels Dong-soo's care for him, starts to see the world and his relatives differently, and picks up hope and motivation in the darkness, making his dreams feel less out of reach. The film has received multiple award nominations.
