Explores the duality of human nature, showcasing a cruel and dark alternate self. Mr. Brooks (played by Kevin Costner) is a successful upper-class individual, passionate about charity, well-respected, and has a happy family. However, this seemingly perfect man harbors a side unknown to others: another persona he calls Marshall, who continuously tempts Brooks to kill for pleasure. He indulges in the thrill of serial killing, akin to an addiction, but unexpectedly, during the murder of a couple, he is captured on film by a photographer. The photographer uses this to blackmail Brooks, only to find himself outmaneuvered by Brooks. Due to the strange situation, it raises the suspicion of Detective Tracy. Thus, Mr. Brooks initiates his next plan.
