In 21st century Japan, the new generation shows little interest in their studies and even less in the old stories from centuries ago. Kawabe Mikako (played by Satomi Ishihara), a high school teacher, finds herself just going through the motions with her disinterested students. One evening, she gets caught up in a dispute between students Takase Masaya (played by Tomo Emoto), Morino Eri (played by Haruna Kawaguchi), and Numata Shintaro (played by Yudai Chiba), and is subsequently sucked into a strange light, thrusting her into the chaotic time flow and transporting her back to the late Tokugawa Shogunate in Japan. At this moment, the Satsuma-Choshu army is closing in on Edo, with the militant faction led by Army Vice President Yanagida Ryuzo (played by Akira Emoto) determined to fight to the death to protect the Tokugawa family, while Army President Katsu Kaishu (played by Hiroshi Tamaki) sends a secret message to the new government army advisor Saigo Takamori (played by Koichi Sato), hoping to achieve a bloodless surrender. The arrival of Kawabe and her students seems to disrupt the course of history, as Edo is on the brink of being engulfed in flames of destruction... This film is adapted from the short story "Nostalgic Snow" (名残の雪) by Takashi Mayumura.
