In 2004, in a quiet and underdeveloped neighborhood in Jeongguk-dong, South Korea, five peculiar murder cases occurred one after another. All the victims were women who, without exception, suffered brutal torture in life, and after death, the killer displayed their bodies outdoors in a crucifixion-like manner. The head of the special investigation team, In-sung (played by Lee Sun-kyun), was tasked with solving the case but faced a constant lack of leads and pressure from above, which caused him great distress.
