Hong Doo-shik, played by Kim Joo-hyuck, is the ‘Mr. Handy’ in everyone's eyes within the neighborhood. He knows everything about both big and small matters in the community, and he is aware of all the secrets between neighbors. One day, the honest female dentist Yoon Hye-jin (played by Yoon Jung-hee) moves into the community and discovers that Doo-shik is not only a part-time singer at a small bar, a mail carrier, and an assistant at a record store and convenience store, but also becomes her real estate agent and interior designer! Additionally, he serves as the community representative and knows how to butcher beef, make paper dolls, and brew traditional rice wine... As Hye-jin encounters the ‘all-knowing’ Doo-shik in her daily life, she realizes that he has become a part of her world, and Mr. Handy unknowingly starts to think of her... Have you ever wondered what your neighbors are doing while you are lounging at home? Directed by Kang Suk-bum of 'Tube', in collaboration with 'Singles' leads Kim Joo-hyuck and Yoon Jung-hee, this city-themed romantic comedy 'Mr. Handy' unfolds! Kim Joo-hyuck and Yoon Jung-hee reunite after ‘Singles’. This time, the director uses humorous scenes and witty dialogues to recount the interesting little details of the lives of these neighbors, leaving the audience entertained while retaining a sense of reality. The term "班长" here does not refer to the usual understanding of a "class monitor"; it indicates the smallest administrative position in South Korean towns, somewhat similar to community committee officials in China. The protagonist, Hong Doo-shik, embodies this role while also juggling multiple jobs; he can be described as a passionate and energetic man. The female protagonist, Hye-jin, originally a doctor, resigns from her city job for various reasons and relocates to an unfamiliar town to open a private clinic, where she meets Doo-shik, leading to many interesting stories between them... This romantic comedy film marks the second collaboration between Kang Suk-bum and Yoon Jung-hee after 'Singles'. For Yoon Jung-hee, she feels somewhat unfamiliar. However, the opening scene showcases her cycling and flaunting her figure, which is very beautiful. It seems that Yoon Jung-hee is one of those beauties who looks more appealing in clothes than in a state of undress; her demeanor is different from typical Korean actresses, exuding a refreshing charm while still retaining a hint of sensuality. The plot of this film is quite cliché, structured around a Korean-style romance. Yet, the individual scenes evoke feelings of warmth and romance. In terms of comedy, aside from some natural humor, the director heavily parodies Korean films such as 'Double Spy', 'Life or Death Mission/Fish', Japanese horror classic 'The Grudge', as well as the American film 'Jaws'. A major fight scene also pays homage to Hong Kong action cinema.
