"The Caregiver's Story" tells the tale of a retired writer (played by Paul Rudd) who becomes a caregiver after experiencing his own life tragedies. After six weeks of training, he meets his first client—an 18-year-old with muscular dystrophy (played by Craig Roberts) who has quite a mouth. The unexpected encounter between "paralyzed" emotions and a paralyzed body leads them on an impromptu road trip. Along the way, they encounter a talkative delinquent girl, a pregnant woman who helps them test their survival skills, and other stories that teach them the importance of maintaining hope during life's disappointments, as well as the value of true friendship.
