The highly anticipated Iraq war film "Stop-Loss" stars three popular male actors: Ryan Philippe, Channing Tatum, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The term "stop-loss" originally comes from the field of finance and foreign exchange, generally referring to an action that limits losses to a small range when an investment goes wrong. After the Vietnam War, this term was utilized by the US government. The "stop-loss procedure" refers to the military's action of forcing soldiers who have completed their service or are eligible for retirement to extend their service time in situations deemed urgent. It is estimated that this controversial policy has resulted in approximately 7,000 US soldiers, who were supposed to return home, being forced to remain in Iraq. In the film, Sergeant Brandon King, played by Ryan Philippe, returns home with honor and plans to rebuild his life, but the military forcibly requires him to return to Iraq to continue his service under the stop-loss procedure. Reluctantly, Brandon embarks on a journey to evade the so-called "justice" of a country he once risked his life to protect.
