Although Fanny (Frances O'Connor) has lived in Mansfield Park since childhood, nothing here feels familiar to her. Her identity as an unwelcome guest has subjected her to the ups and downs of human emotions, but with the kindness and companionship of Edmund (Jonny Lee Miller), she has managed to preserve a small piece of purity in her heart. Gifted and talented, Fanny loves to record her thoughts and feelings through writing, and becoming a writer is her greatest dream. The arrival of Henry (Alessandro Nivola) and Mary (Embeth Davidtz) disrupts the tranquility of the estate; their experiences in London have accustomed the siblings to express their emotions openly, which is rare in Mansfield Park. Soon, Edmund's attention is drawn to the beautiful Mary, while Henry seems quite taken with Fanny, leaving her uncertain about the sudden changes in her life.
