The protagonist, Wilfried Wills, is a police officer in Anvers at the beginning of World War II. At that time, the town was experiencing violent protests, and the public generally distrusts him, but Wilfried strives to avoid trouble at all costs. He has the support of a German occupying force known as "Despicable Mustache," while also being a confidant of his colleague, the fiercely anti-Nazi Lord, who is also the brother of his fiancée, Ivette. Wilfried must fight for his survival as the Nazi occupation and the extermination of Jews become an increasingly oppressive reality.
