The story of the Loyal Retainers of the Genroku era is celebrated through the ages. Among the 47 loyalists, Terasaka Kichiemon (played by Koji Sato) is the only one remaining in the world. He has been entrusted by Oishi Kuranosuke (played by Nizaemon Kataoka) to pass on the deeds of the 47 loyalists, while also taking on the important responsibility of caring for their families. Time flies, and 16 years pass in the blink of an eye. On the way to prepare for the 17th memorial service for the loyal retainers, Terasaka unexpectedly meets his former ally — Sena Tadamasa (played by Hiroshi Yajima), who had fled the night before the raid on Kira Kozuke no Suke (played by Seizo Fukumoto). Now, Tadamasa has transformed into an antique dealer, living with the beautiful and gentle girl Kayo (played by Nanami Sakuraba). Their relationship is both that of a father and daughter and that of lovers, and she is Tadamasa's sole reason for enduring a life filled with shame... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Akira Ikemura.
