A family running a traditional puppet theater in Paris sticks to their artistic principles, but the passing of the father and grandmother leads the younger generation to ponder their future. This family drama is inspired by the real-life events of director Philippe Garrel's father, and the director's three children deliver wonderful performances in the film. The narrative is steady yet infused with warmth and humor, alleviating the heaviness of the theme of death, while the emotional ties of three generations reflect the changes in the cultural backdrop of French society on a micro level.
