"The Botany of Desire" is adapted from Michael Pollan's book of the same name. This film tells the story of four common plants in everyday life and how they have won human affection. In 1983, Michael Pollan and his wife left New York City to settle on an abandoned dairy farm. Pollan, who had been fascinated by gardening since childhood and was confident in his ability to harness nature, began to cultivate his own garden. At that time, he was unaware that this action would ultimately lead him to rethink the relationship between humans and plants, resulting in his book "The Botany of Desire" becoming a bestseller. The film takes viewers on a journey around the world, from potato gardens in Peru and Idaho to apple orchards in Kazakhstan, from tulip markets in Amsterdam to medical marijuana grow rooms in the United States, exploring the natural histories of potatoes, apples, tulips, and cannabis, concluding that humanity's desire for them ties their fates to ours. The film is directed by Michael Schwarz.
