In the long-gone Edo period, there was a special group within the samurai class, known as the kitchen samurai (bocho samurai), who prepared meals specifically for shoguns or domain lords. Although they couldn't fight on the battlefield, the blades they wielded were just as significant as the samurai swords. The renowned chef of the Kaga domain, Taira Uenai (played by Toshiyuki Nishida), is getting old. His eldest son, who was originally set to be the heir, suddenly passes away, while his second son, Yasunobu (played by Kengo Kora), prefers to wield a sword rather than cook, leaving his culinary skills lacking. During a grand banquet within the domain, a seemingly unremarkable maid by the name of Koharu (played by Aya Ueto), impresses Uenai with her exceptional palate and culinary insights. Following this, Uenai repeatedly pleads, and ultimately convinces the maid named Koharu to marry Yasunobu. After Koharu enters the household, a cooking duel compels her husband to willingly learn culinary skills from her. Under his wife's guidance, Yasunobu gradually becomes a competent kitchen samurai capable of standing on his own. Just at this moment, a bloody storm descends upon the Kaga domain...
