About a story within a story, everything begins with the strange experiences of this young student. He has just killed a man, his hands still warm with blood, and the first thing he does is go to a nearby dance hall to hear the legendary life of a drunken sailor. Years ago, the sailor set out from his hometown, boarding a long voyage ship captained by a ghost. The curse of the ghost ship is that he is the only living being aboard. The ghost ship drifts through various ports in Latin America, and the sailor experiences adventures more absurd than myths on the ship, in brothels, and at the docks. These magical experiences are filled with the enchanting qualities of Borges' novels, presented with a unique visual and artistic effect, reflecting Raoul Ruiz’s mastery of surreal and expressionist imagery, undeniably remarkable.
