Odell (Mos Def) and Louis (John Hawkes), two small-time thieves, meet in prison and decide to team up after their release to carry out a big job and secure a comfortable life. They set their sights on a wealthy capitalist named Frank (Tim Robbins) and kidnap his wife, Mitch (Jennifer Aniston), to demand a hefty ransom. However, Odell and Louis quickly realize that their plan has backfired. It turns out that Frank already has a sexy mistress, Maggie (Isla Fisher), and has no intention of paying for his wife's release; in fact, he would prefer the two kidnappers to finish off his troublesome wife so he can avoid a lot of hassle.
