One day, a tornado strikes, and in her attempt to find her beloved dog, Dorothy fails to take cover in time. The powerful tornado lifts Dorothy's little wooden house into the air. After an unknown period, the house finally lands and crushes a wicked witch. Guided by the kind Witch of the North, Dorothy and her dog set off for the Emerald City where the Wizard of Oz (Frank Morgan) resides, hoping he can help her return home. Along the way, Dorothy meets the brainless Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), the heartless Tin Man (Jack Haley), and the cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), who join her in hopes of fulfilling their own wishes. They face many hardships along the journey, with the wicked Witch of the West constantly obstructing them. Will their wishes ultimately come true? This film is based on the American fairy tale of the same name.
