The protagonist of "Dad's Army" is a group of elderly gentlemen living in a small town in England, originally working as bank clerks and shopkeepers. As World War II escalates, these grandfathers, filled with patriotic zeal, are not qualified to join the regular army but spontaneously form a volunteer corps to defend their homeland and outsmart German spies. This irregular army catches the attention of the media, and a journalist played by Catherine Zeta-Jones comes to the town to report their story.
