The extremely overweight Professor Klump (played by Eddie Murphy) is academically brilliant and kind-hearted, but has always been the subject of laughter due to his size. One day, Professor Klump discovers that his newly developed drug is a success; this potion can alter the DNA of small mice, enabling them to lose weight. It seems that Professor Klump is on the verge of a new life.
Professor Klump has always been fond of the chemistry instructor, Miss Carla (played by Jada Pinkett Smith). During a dinner invitation to a club, Professor Klump is ridiculed by host Ricky because of his size, making it hard for him to hold his head high in front of his date. After returning home, Professor Klump decides to take the new drug he developed. Miraculously, after drinking the potion, Professor Klump transforms into the shameless, cunning and thin Buddy. Fortunately, the effects of the potion are temporary, and after some time, Buddy turns back into Professor Klump. In order to feel proud in front of Carla, Professor Klump repeatedly drinks the potion...
