The film is adapted from the works of British children’s author Georgia Byng. The protagonist, Molly Monnie, is an orphaned girl who accidentally discovers a hypnosis book. She learns to hypnotize others, and in a series of subsequent books, Molly also masters other abilities, including stopping time, time travel, reading minds, and shapeshifting. Using her hypnosis skills, Molly rises to fame and fortune after a competition in New York.
