On the surface, bee Barry B. Benson (voiced by Jerry Seinfeld) is no different from his fellow bees, but he has his own ideas about the future. After graduating from college, he and his classmates are assigned to work at Honex Industries, destined to be worker bees who spend their lives laboring and collecting nectar. Barry is reluctant to accept a life where the future is so predictable, yet he seems powerless to change his fate. During his first nectar-collecting trip, Barry encounters a series of mishaps and narrowly escapes death multiple times. He ultimately finds refuge in the home of a beautiful woman named Vanessa (played by Renée Zellweger) and becomes good friends with her. By chance, Barry discovers that the honey produced by bees is being "stolen" by humans, which infuriates him, and he decides to take action to protect the bees' hard-earned treasure...
