Left without a source of income, Guixiang has no choice but to return to her hometown with her 3-year-old child. In order to raise bail money, Guixiang tries every possible means to gather funds. Ultimately, guided by an old lover, she becomes a professional mourner who specifically cries at funerals. In an age of progress, people find it hard to shed a tear for the elders who have passed away at home.
