This is the directorial debut of Josh Mond and also a semi-autobiographical film. The story follows a young man named James White (played by Christopher Abbott) as he navigates his upbringing in New York. James leads a life of self-destruction, doing nothing all day and pursuing pleasure. However, when his mother Gail (played by Cynthia Nixon) falls seriously ill, James is forced to take responsibility for his life. The film won the NEXT Audience Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
