Gang member Chas (James Fox) is a henchman for Harry Flowers. During a gang conflict, Chas kills a man named Joey and is forced to go on the run. To evade Harry's pursuit, he adopts the alias Johnny Dean, pretending to be a magician and renting a basement in a house. The owner of the house is Turner (Mick Jagger), who lives there with two women. During his time in the basement, Chas embarks on a surreal journey. He contacts a friend to help him get an American passport, preparing to escape. He arranges for his friend to meet him at his place, but to his surprise, his friend arrives with Harry's men...
