Simon Newton (James McAvoy) is a senior staff member at Delancy’s auction house, specializing in the protection of famous artworks in danger of theft. One day, a painting by the renowned artist Goya, titled "Witches In The Air," is up for auction, with an estimated value of twenty-five million pounds. Meanwhile, a gang of thieves led by Franck (Vincent Cassel) is plotting to steal the painting. Franck’s plan goes smoothly, and Simon, accustomed to such situations, quickly bags the painting for transfer. Just as Simon is about to send the painting to a safe place, Franck appears, striking Simon on the head with a gun and stealing the painting. Simon collapses. Back at home, Franck is shocked to find that when he opens the bag, it's empty. After regaining consciousness, Simon is confronted by Franck, who reveals that Simon was part of their gang. However, due to head trauma, Simon has lost part of his memory and cannot recall where the painting is.
