In a small town in southern China at the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, a left-behind girl named Lin Sen (16 years old) is preparing for the college entrance examination. Her mother, who has been working in Guangdong for many years, is determined for her to attend the police university. However, Lin Sen faces daily bullying from her classmates at school and is often teased by her three cousins at home, causing her great frustration. The only person she can confide in is a nearby high school girl named Mei Zi. As a foster daughter, Mei Zi does not want to take care of her disabled brother, and the two often escape their families to spend the night in internet cafes. Mei Zi's high school experiences a case of female murder, and her phone is confiscated by her foster mother. Taking advantage of the opportunity when the homeroom teacher confiscates students' phones, Lin Sen steals the phone of the girl who bullies her and gives it to Mei Zi. Encouraged by Mei Zi, she continues to steal phones. Mei Zi takes her to use the money from selling the phones to get a new hairstyle and they have a late-night snack with the hairstylists. Lin Sen gets drunk and when she wakes up, she can’t find Mei Zi, who stops answering Lin Sen’s calls afterward. Lin Sen embarks on an adventurous journey of selling phones alone. She meets a boy from her school named Da Wei and begins to rely on him, the son of the police chief, gradually forgetting about Mei Zi. Her mother returns suddenly to borrow money from friends and family, noticing the change in Lin Sen. She seizes the opportunity to examine Lin Sen’s body… Her mother’s discovery leaves Lin Sen confused and anxious—who is it?
