The story takes place in England in 1845, where three sisters, Anne (played by Charlie Murphy), Charlotte (played by Finn Atkins), and Emily (played by Chloe Pirrie), live together with their elderly father, relying on each other for support. The constant harassment from their brother Branwell (played by Adam Nagaitis) exacerbates their already impoverished living conditions. The sisters know that if their father dies, they might lose their home and end up on the streets. To prevent this from happening, they each strive in their own way. The three sisters are naturally imaginative and love writing, but at that time, it was impossible for female authors to have their works published. Therefore, they use male pen names to submit their writing, eventually achieving success.
