28-year-old refinery electrical engineer Kawai Jōji (played by Akira Ozawa) has no bad habits and is regarded by his colleagues as a gentleman like a monster, but beneath his simple and clumsy appearance lies a little-known secret. Coming from the countryside, Kawai is determined to find a beautiful and outstanding woman to marry, yet the superficiality of modern society and his own lack of exceptional qualities make this wish seem unattainable. A wonderful opportunity unexpectedly arises when Kawai encounters the 15-year-old daughter of the owner of a café in Asakusa, Naomi (played by Michiyo Yasuda). He signs an agreement with the café owner to take Naomi home for her education in culture, etiquette, and more, hoping to cultivate her into his ideal partner. The youthful and headstrong Naomi is willful and mischievous, and Kawai spares no expense to fulfill her needs. But how long can this dangerous relationship last?
