Prem (played by Salman Khan) meets and gets to know Nisha (played by Madhuri Dixit) when his brother Rajesh (played by Anupam Kher) marries Nisha's sister, Bhuja. Later, Bhuja becomes pregnant, and Nisha comes to take care of her. During their time spent together, Prem and Nisha fall in love. However, happiness does not last long. In a tragic accident, Bhuja loses her life, and Rajesh falls seriously ill from the shock. Nisha's father hopes that his daughter will marry Rajesh so that she can care for him and the child. Prem and Nisha decide to sacrifice their feelings for the greater good.
