The godfather of folk music, Irvin Stambloom, has passed away, leaving behind a musical legend and several folk bands that he guided to stardom. His son, Jonathan, is planning a memorial concert at New York City Hall, featuring bands that Irvin loved during his lifetime, including "Mickey and Mikey," "The Folksmen," and "The New Street Singers," among others. "Mickey and Mikey" (Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara) used to be a golden couple back in the day, but their relationship has since faded. Mickey, deeply affected, has shifted away from his earlier sweet style of songwriting, now pouring his endless pain into every album. Fans are eager to see the two perform their hit song: "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow." "The Folksmen," formed in the 1960s by three college freshmen who met at Ohio's Wesleyan University — Jerry (Michael McKean), Alan (Christopher Guest), and Mark — became a backbone of the folk movement after a 26-month national tour. The band played around Greenwich Village for a long time, but after releasing an experimental electronic folk album, they haven’t sung for over 30 years. "The New Street Singers," formerly known as "The Street Singers," are led by Bona and his wife, former adult film star Lori. They believe in the sacred power derived from colors, resulting in incredibly gaudy uniforms for the band. Their music might be considered garbage by professionals, with harmonies turning into noise, featuring 14 guitars; nevertheless, the band has released countless albums. The entire process of preparation and performance will be documented by a television station as a tribute album to Irvin. For just one night, these three reunited bands will perform the music that nearly made them famous at New York City Hall.
