The troublesome uncle visits after the father's death, and the two brothers are willing to leave home to protect a secret. The film's story takes place in a village in Georgia, USA, where the Moon father and his two sons live a peaceful life. One day, their lives are completely changed by the arrival of Moon’s long-lost brother, Deer, which leads to a series of disasters. To keep a terrifying secret, Moon’s two sons must run away from home... About the director David Gordon Green, born in 1975 in Arkansas, studied film production at North Carolina School and directed several short films and documentaries. In 2000, his first feature film "George Washington" won the Discovery Award, and his second film — 2003's "All the Real Girls," won the Special Jury Prize at that year's Sundance Film Festival for its authentic portrayal of emotions. "Dark Tide" is his third film. Since his first film, Green has been striving to find a new cinematic language to shape and express characters and their experiences. In this film, Green's collaboration with genius cinematographer Tim Orr establishes a unique combination of the film's authentic emotions with objective, calm visual language. Green tells a story of an almost forgotten America, a group of people struggling to survive, finding true heroes in the most ordinary environments and exploring the depth and emotions of every ordinary character. Compared to Green's previous works, "Dark Tide" appears to be more traditional in structure, featuring opposing characters and a consistently dark and terrifying thread throughout; but it also continues many of Green's bold and innovative experimental techniques: the use of still frames, callbacks in the plot, etc., combined with extremely realistic settings and sound design... "Dark Tide" is one of the most anticipated films of this year. The theme of the film is coming of age. Like "George Washington," "Dark Tide" also centers on children. Green is one of the directors best at collaborating with teenagers; perhaps because he is quite young himself, he understands the confusion and intense emotional cravings of adolescence and expresses them very appropriately in the film. In this movie, young actor Jamie Bell, who plays Clay, brilliantly portrays the transformation of a boy growing up under Green's guidance. He develops from a trouble-making rural boy into a mature young man who takes on the responsibility of caring for his younger brother after experiencing family upheavals (the arrival of a despicable uncle brings disaster to the family), accurately capturing the character’s inner key and perfectly showcasing the psychological transition of a boy from adolescence to adulthood. Controversy surrounding the genius director Green has consistently been referred to as a genius director, a claim that has sparked considerable controversy. Opponents argue that Green can only be considered somewhat talented, mainly due to his youth, being praised too highly, with significant problems in his film structure. Supporters, however, believe that Green's films are very authentic, and as a young director, the profound insights in his films must be acknowledged as evidence of his genius. Behind the scenes During the filming of this movie, many people were injured; Josh Lucas and Dermot Mulroney, who played the adult Moon brothers, both broke ribs during their fight scenes, while Jamie Bell, who played Clay, stepped on a nail and had to use crutches for several days.
