The story is set in contemporary Germany, where Jan (Daniel Brühl), Peter (Stipe Erceg), and Julie (Julia Jentsch) are three ordinary young people found everywhere in society. However, deep inside, the flames of anger and disappointment have never ceased to burn, in response to the state of the country, dissatisfaction with the government, and hatred for the wealthy. To find an outlet for these surging emotions, they must do something out of the ordinary. They sneak into a mansion at night, creating a ruckus and leaving behind a threatening note that reads "The good days are over." This kind of action provides an emotional release for the three friends and gives them a thrill. During one operation, an accident caused by Julie forces them to return to the "crime scene." Unfortunately, they run into the homeowner returning home, and under pressure, the three do something they are all reluctant to do—kidnapping.
