During the Xinhai Year, Japan forced Yuan Shikai (played by Ying Ruocheng) to sign the treasonous "Twenty-One Demands." Ignoring the opposition of the Chinese people, Yuan complied with the signing. This triggered a nationwide anti-Japanese movement, which Yuan violently suppressed with his army.
