This story describes a complex love tale that unfolds as a Jewish family seeks refuge in a village during the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1941. Kaya (played by Clare Higgins) is a Jewish cellist who, along with her husband Yada (played by Joseph Fiennes) and their daughter, is forced to flee the city in the face of Nazi persecution to find a safe haven. In the village, they receive help and shelter from the grocery store owner Emona. To protect their identity, Yada is asked to pose as Emona's husband, while Kaya and their daughter hide in the attic. In this adversity, an emotional connection and attraction develop between Yada and Emona. However, Kaya, as an observer, must silently endure this intricate love triangle. Outside is a world ravaged by war, while inside is a conflict of souls. In this difficult time, does this complicated love triangle reveal true feelings in the face of adversity, or is it a shadow of death, or a pursuit of the will to survive?
