The film tells the story of Shirley Yang returning from the ancient city of Jingjue with Professor Chen for treatment in the United States, only to discover red spots in the shape of eyeballs growing on her back. Hu Bayi, along with Wang Pangzi and Da Jinya, travels to Gulan County in Shaanxi to procure goods and encounters Shirley Yang. The four of them enter a ghostly tomb and nearly get buried in the belly of a human-faced spider. After emerging, Hu Bayi and Wang Pangzi also develop red spots. Shirley Yang, holding her grandfather's notes from Zhegu Shao, discovers that the key to unlocking the curse of the red spots— the Xuanzhen Pearl— is likely hidden in the Giant Buddha Temple of Heishui City. The three continue along the Yellow River, following the notes into the temple, where they confront the black jade evil god and stumble upon a treasure chest. Does it contain the Xuanzhen Pearl, or does it hide dangers? Will the treasure-hunting team be able to successfully unravel the mystery of the cursed red spots?
