Shouzheng (played by Chiu Shuk-ching) is a police officer who has been haunted by a nightmare at midnight, where the shadow of a brutally murdered woman and a bizarre crime scene becomes an inescapable burden. During a mission, Shouzheng is ordered to chase a fugitive and surprisingly, despite having no knowledge of firearms, she accurately shoots the criminal. The scene that unfolds before her makes Shouzheng despairingly realize that her nightmare has become reality, and a religious-related serial murder case is quietly taking place in the city. Shitian Nan (played by Donnie Yen) and Shouzheng become the persons in charge of this case. They devise a plan to capture the murderer but instead fall into a trap, leading to the sacrifice of female officer Leo (played by Leung Siu-ming). Meanwhile, Shouzheng discovers traces of her missing father from many years ago, leading her to understand that everything happening around her is intricately linked to her identity and past.
