The gift GAIA from the 17th-century Spanish royal family to the Chinese emperor, now divided into three parts: the Eye of the Forest, the Spring of Spirit, and the Wings of Destiny, remains invaluable and tantalizing. Recently released from prison, the notorious thief Zhang Dan (played by Andy Lau) sets his sights on these treasures. He teams up with seasoned hacker Xiao Bao (played by Yang Youning) and female thief Ye Hong (played by Shu Qi), successfully infiltrating the Cannes auction venue, where they steal the Wings of Destiny right under the nose of French detective Pierre (played by Jean Reno) after several confrontations. Eventually, they hand it over to their boss, King Kong (played by Eric Tsang). Having already stolen the Eye of the Forest before going to prison, only the Spring of Spirit is needed to reunite GAIA. Meanwhile, Pierre finds Zhang Dan's ex-girlfriend Amber Li (played by Zhang Jingchu), who had been betrayed by Zhang, initiating a new round of pursuit against the thieves...
