This film is adapted from Bret Easton Ellis's highly controversial novel of the same name and serves as a black social satire depicting urban life in America during the late 1980s. Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) is a Wall Street prodigy, a hotshot stockbroker who is handsome, charming, and witty, earning countless dollars for his clients every day. But when night falls, the dark, boundless terror awakens another side of Bateman's dual personality. He kidnaps one prey after another to his luxurious apartment, torturing them little by little, watching the blood slowly flow out, and feeling an inexplicable pleasure wash over him. His status prevents the officers investigating this series of crimes from ever considering him a suspect, while another equally bloodthirsty killer seeks to commit an even more gruesome crime, aspiring to become the true king of killers. Bateman's dual personality keeps him busy all day long. However, evil can never truly be concealed; what will be the fate of a cold-blooded serial killer? Will Bateman be caught?
