In 1940s Shanghai, a street punk named Ah Xing (Stephen Chow), who has suffered bullying since childhood, is determined to rise above his circumstances. He sees an opportunity and decides to infiltrate the increasingly rampant gang "Axe Gang" to gain fame and success. Ah Xing pretends to be a member of the "Axe Gang" in an attempt to extort residents in a place called "Pig Sty Alley," unintentionally drawing the ire of the real "Axe Gang" and the residents of "Pig Sty Alley." This alley was originally a hiding place for many skilled individuals (such as Yuen Wah and Leung Siu Lung), who had settled there to escape the troubles of the martial arts world, but trouble inevitably finds them. Through witnessing the battle between the righteous and the evil, Ah Xing gradually comprehends the true essence of Kung Fu.
