The lively and pure Australian girl Sandy Olsson (played by Olivia Newton-John) meets the leader of the school's "T-Birds," Danny Zuko (played by John Travolta), while vacationing in America. Sandy falls in love with Danny at first sight and reluctantly kisses him goodbye as she heads home. A sweet and innocent first love fades away with the hot summer. However, things take a turn when Sandy's parents decide to move to America, and she is excited to discover that she and Danny are attending the same school. To pursue Danny, the originally demure Sandy starts to dress stylishly and even dates the most popular athlete in school. However, things do not go as Sandy had hoped. This film was nominated for the Best Original Song at the 51st Academy Awards in 1979 and received nominations for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and Best Actress at the 36th Golden Globe Awards, among other accolades.
