The Galactic Empire is reconstructing a more powerful new "Death Star" in an attempt to completely eliminate the Rebel Alliance. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) sends droids R2-D2 and C-3PO to Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine to negotiate the exchange of the frozen Han Solo (Harrison Ford), but to no avail. With the help of Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), and Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), they eventually succeed in rescuing him. At the Jedi Master Yoda's, Luke discovers more secrets about his heritage and finally decides to face the ultimate challenge of becoming a Jedi Knight. Luke returns to the Rebel Alliance to participate in the attack on the Death Star, along with Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and droids R2-D2 and C-3PO. They journey to the forest-covered moon of Endor to sabotage the energy station of the Death Star's shield, while Lando Calrissian pilots the Millennium Falcon to lead aerial strikes. However, as soon as Luke and his group land on Endor, they encounter the local Ewok tribe, and Princess Leia goes missing... The film won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 56th Oscars and received nominations for Best Art Direction, Best Sound Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Sound.
