This film is adapted from the novel "To Live and Die in L.A." by former American intelligence officer Gerald Petievich. The plot follows LAPD detective William Petersen, who vows to avenge his brutally murdered partner at any cost. He later discovers that the killer is a counterfeiting painter named William Dafoe, leading to a violent cat-and-mouse chase between them.
