Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) is the sole survivor of the first mission that encountered the Alien, and she has been in cryosleep until she is rescued back to Earth by a rescue team. When she opens her eyes, she realizes she has been in cryosleep for 57 years! During this time, humanity has already colonized the planet where the Alien resides. After learning this, Ripley immediately reports to the authorities about the Alien situation on that planet, but they consider her either insane or a liar. Seeing that the authorities are ignoring her, Ripley decides to refrain from any involvement with anything related to the Alien. Sure enough, the settlers on that Alien-inhabited planet suddenly lose contact with Earth. It is at this point that the authorities finally take notice of Ripley's previous report and decide to send a military team to rescue them. Ripley is convinced to take part in the rescue operation. Another bloody battle begins!
