Due to a fit of rage, Cold Front (played by Wu Jing), a decorated soldier, kills a bully responsible for the demolition of a comrade's home and is sentenced by a military court. While in custody, his close lover, Long Xiaoyun, heroically sacrifices herself. After his release, Cold Front makes his way to Africa, traveling across various locations to find the murderer of Xiaoyun. During this time, a rebellion breaks out in the country where Cold Front is staying, with traitors, the Red Scarf Army, committing mass killings.
