Middle-aged man Frank Walker (played by George Clooney) vents his frustrations with the girl beside him, Casey Newton (played by Britt Robertson), lamenting that modern society is filled with war, hunger, disasters, and various injustices. He recalls an experience from his childhood. Little Frank (played by Thomas Robinson) brought his proud invention to a theme park, only to be met with disappointment. A beautiful girl, Athena (played by Raffey Cassidy), quietly lends a hand, revealing to him a jaw-dropping future world. In contrast, Casey is a sunny girl filled with dreams about the future, yearning to one day explore space. Driven by her dreams, she even sneaks into NASA, landing herself in trouble, but gains a mysterious badge that leads her to meet Frank. This encounter between the two, one old and one young, makes the fantastical future world no longer seem distant...
