After Shǒujūn (Qíqí) gave birth to her son Míngzǎi (Yè Jìnglán), she was abandoned by her husband. To prevent Míngzǎi from living a hard life with her, she left him on a luxury cruise ship, hoping that a kind and wealthy person would take him in, but she was left with emotional scars. Securities broker Lǐ Zhàoróng (Zhāng Guóróng) decided to adopt Míngzǎi when he saw him, even though he was already a bankrupt due to the financial crisis. The two moved into a wooden house on the rooftop of a nursing home, and Lǐ Zhàoróng started delivering goods by bicycle to earn a living. Four years later, Lǐ Zhàoróng and Míngzǎi appear to be a close father-son duo to outsiders, while Shǒujūn became the chairwoman of a charity foundation.
