Walter (Christian Bale) is a reckless young man who feels above the law. After killing a Black student, he is captured by Shaft (Samuel L. Jackson). Unfortunately, Walter's powerful family manages to get him released with minimal effort. However, Walter, now free, does not appreciate his second chance and harbors a deep hatred for Shaft, who he blames for his embarrassment, vowing to get rid of him. Shaft, guided by his sense of justice, has made many enemies, including not only Walter but also a drug lord he has previously humiliated and a corrupt detective from the police department.
